In December 2010, Evan M. Lison presented at a seminar for human resources professionals titled, “NJ Unemployment Insurance 101: Assessing and Responding to Claims for U.I. Benefits.”  Evan presented the employment law portion of the seminar and covered at-will employment and its exceptions, the Older Workers Benefit Protection Act, severance agreements and releases, and provided guidance regarding the proper way to discharge employees.  Evan also presented regarding the differences between a resignation and discharge, and their impact upon an individual’s entitlement to unemployment compensation.


Douglas Zucker and Kathryn Hatfield recently presented at a seminar entitled, “How to Avoid EEOC Claims in New Jersey and What to Do If You Can't."  Douglas presented on Recent Developments, which discussed recent amendments to the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Genetic Information Non-disclosure Act of 2008, The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, Employee Free Choice Act, Paid Family Leave, and case law developments.  Douglas also did a presentation on Permissible Inquiries, what employers can and cannot ask applicants and current employees.  Kathy presented on Workplace Investigations, when and how to conduct them, who should conduct them, and issues related to investigations, including workplace and sexual harassment investigations.
