Douglas S. Zucker focuses his practice primarily representing both private and public sector employers and not-for-profit organizations in all aspects of labor and employment law, and in providing counseling to individuals and executives on employment and post-termination release agreements. Many of Mr. Zucker's clients are small to mid-sized and closely held businesses, for which he performs a variety of services, involving business contracts, general business and corporate issues, and commercial litigation.
Mr. Zucker has considerable experience in prosecuting and defending restrictive covenant litigation, and in defending employers against employment discrimination and harassment suits and litigating commercial disputes before state and federal courts and administrative agencies such as the NJ Division on Civil Rights, the EEOC, and the U.S. Small Business Administration. Mr. Zucker has extensive arbitration experience and represents unionized employers in collective bargaining and contract administration, and in matters before the National Labor Relations Board and the NJ Public Employment Relations Commission.
Mr. Zucker also conducts internal workplace investigations, is a dynamic presenter of management and employee training programs, and focuses much of his attention on issues involving family and medical leave, disability and reasonable accommodation, wage and hour counseling, discipline and discharge issues, as well as drafting and revising employee handbooks and policies.
In addition, Mr. Zucker represents both companies and individuals in negotiating and drafting executive employment agreements, including compensation, non-disclosure and non-solicitation provisions.
Since his appointment by the late Chief Justice Wilentz in 1993, Mr. Zucker has served as the only private practice attorney on the Supreme Court of New Jersey Advisory Committee on ADA Compliance. Mr. Zucker lectures frequently on employment law topics for groups throughout New Jersey, and taught as an adjunct professor at a local university.
Before attending law school, Mr. Zucker worked as the Administrative Director of Employee Relations for a northern New Jersey hospital and as Director of Labor Relations for a New York City building maintenance firm. Prior to co-founding Bauch Zucker Hatfield LLC, Mr. Zucker worked in the employment law group of Shanley & Fisher, PC, was a founding member of Stanton, Hughes, Diana & Zucker, PC, and co-chaired the labor & employment practice group at Schenck, Price, Smith & King, LLP.
